Garelu:
Ingredients:11/2 cup urid dhal,1 tbsp Chopped chillies,2 tbsp Chopped corriander,1 tbsp chopped gingerpinch of cooking soda, salt.
Procedure:Soak urid dhal for 5 - 6 hours. Grind the urid dhal in a blender into smooth fluffy paste. Mix all the ingredients with the paste and leave aside for 15mins.
Take a heavy bottomed vessel and add enough oil for deep frying. The oil should be hot.
Wet your hands with water and take a lemon sized ball and flatten it into a vada on a greased sheet or banana leaf.
Make a hole in the centre of the vada or gare so that it cooks evenly all over.

Slowly drop it into the hot oil carefully and fry it on both sides on medium heat to a golden brown colour.
Serve hot with chicken curry or mutton kurma, sambar or coriander chutney or coconut chutney.
Tip of the day:
. When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness.
